Midwest Vibe Check
After spending the last 2 years in art school, I have spent countless hours researching art, clothing, and the industry. I was desperate to show my peers that I was a true fashion boy. What seemed at first as a lawless, and overwhelming sea of information has now become my home. I think I have tried out every niche micro-community I could find, some good and some bad. I think at this point in time, I’ve finally landed in a spot where I know what feels good but also doesn’t keep me stagnant. With that said, I would like to share with you some of the things in my life that I'm currently loving.
Ben Davis Pants- the true king of khakis. These duck canvas bangers are my go-to pants. They fit every occasion and are mad durable. Perfect for a night out hounding beers or a nice brunch with your girl’s parents. If you’re looking to get baggy this fall I suggest getting the Gorilla Cut shape. Nice fit around the cheeks, and a true tent on the legs. Certainly giving you the massive puddle on the shoe you’re looking for.
2. Adidas Sambas- it’s so wrong but it feels so right. I think we can all agree it’s been the summer of Samba and sorry boys, it’s not over. I'm bringing these classics with me into the fall. There are so many options when it comes to these. The endless colorways, collabs, and breathtaking fits you can toss. If you think they are played, I get it, but I think these can work a hundred different ways and still look good.
3. The Collared Shirt- a titan of the shirt world. In particular, polo. A once middle school essential, of course, paired with the khaki shorts, Sperry Topsiders, and Nike Elite socks. Now after years of resenting those times, guess what, I'm coming back home. A nice solid color, or perhaps a striped one. There are so many flavors and paired with a nice pant, it can elevate your game to the next level.
4. Big shorts- it's only August and trust me it’s still hot and humid. This brings out the perfect opportunity to get your baggy on. No hate to the short inseam gang, but my fair-skinned thighs have taken a beating this summer and it's time to cover them up. You can go full out and get the jean shorts, which pack a serious punch, or go modest and go the khaki or chords. I think pairing these with a long sock and some thin shoes brings some nice proportions.
5. Chunes- I've been in a music rut the past month and haven’t found anything truly mind-melting, but here is what’s been rocking my world at the moment:
Crim3s- Crime3s EP
Brian Eno- Apollo
Viper- You’ll Cowards Don’t Even Smoke Crack
Rick James- Bustin’ out of L Seven
Marino Infantry- Enter The Infantry, Vol. 2.
